VinCambridge 2010

This exclusive Cambridge Food and Wine Society event was held at Lai Wah Heen, Metropolitan Hotel, on Tuesday, May 4, 2010. A gourmet menu was created by its award-winning Chef Patrick Lin, Senior Executive Chef of the Metropolitan Hotel, pairing each of the delectable dishes with a fine selection of Austrian wines.

Three prestigious awards were presented to outstanding individuals from the international food and hospitality industry: the Riedel Wine Maker of the Year Award to Cellarmaster Franz Arndorfer of Winzer Krems, Austria; the Glenfiddich Chef of the Year Award to Senior Executive Chef Patrick Lin, Metropolitan Hotel; and the Rémy Martin Award to Dean Alister Mathieson of the Humber School of Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism.

Winzer Krems lies at the gateway to the World Heritage cultural landscape of the Wachau. The wine cellars are located in the midst of Austria’s most well-known wine regions, the Sandgrube, mentioned as far back as the 11th century. It is one of the most significant producer and most successful exporter of estate bottled quality wine in Austria.

Chef Lin ranks as one of North America’s top chefs. Born in Hong Kong, he has embodied an East-meets-West culinary style that has become his signature. In 2008, Chef Lin was selected the Gold Medal Plates Winner.

The Honourable Senator Vivienne Poy and Dr. Robert Luck, Consul and Trade Commissioner of Austria were the Honorary Event Co-Chairs of 2010 VinCambridge.

The proceeds from this celebratory event were directed to the Jean Lumb Foundation Scholarship Fund.
