Jean Lumb is also a private person, very committed to her family. She shared her proudest moments with those she loves.

She was the first Chinese - Canadian woman on the Board of Directors at University Settlement House and the first Chinese Governor on the Board of Governors for Women's College Hospital.
In 1967, as the Director of the Chinese Dance Group, Jean Lumb was presented to the Queen in the morning and made it back for her son's wedding in the afternoon; she received the Governor General's Award; the Queen's Silver Jubilee Award.
