About the 2012 Jean Lumb Awards

Purpose:

The 15th Annual Jean Lumb Awards will be given to five outstanding young people who have achieved excellence in:
  • Academics
  • Athletics
  • The Arts
  • Community Services
  • Innovation

Eligibility:

Applicants must be:
  • Enrolled in any high school in the Greater Toronto area
  • Of Chinese heritage
  • Canadian citizen or landed immigrant
  • Students who feel that they have overcome challenges or hardships are particularly encouraged to apply
Value: Four awards of $1,000 each
Process: The Jean Lumb Awards application requirements include:
  • Description of 500 words or less of how the student has achieved excellence
  • Two references (at least one from the school)
  • Supporting documentation

Deadline for applications: 5pm, Monday, May 28th, 2012.
Winners will be notified on September 30, 2012.

Background: The Jean Lumb Awards were launched in 1996 at the Mid-Autumn Gala. A fund was established from the proceeds of the gala and the first Jean Lumb Awards were presented in 1998.
